Shepherd joining Batteries International

John Shepherd
Veteran energy journalist John Shepherd is joining the team of leading industry journal Batteries International.

Shepherd, who has been editor of New Energy 360 & World Battery News since August 2020, has four decades of experience running print and digital news and business titles across Europe and Asia.

World Battery News' associate publisher, Jay Cooper, said: "We will be sorry to see John go, but we wish him every success for the future."

Cooper said Shepherd would continue to support operations at New Energy 360 & World Battery News for an interim period and existing writers would continue to provide the site's news coverage.

Shepherd has specialised in covering battery and energy storage for the past five years and the energy sector more generally for 20.

At Batteries International, Shepherd is taking over from Debbie Mason, who was in charge of the publishing group’s online publications and a prime figure in the content of the print side of the group’s business: Batteries International, Energy Storage Journal and related conference papers and various supplements.

Mike Halls, editor of Batteries International, said: "Our whole team and probably the whole industry will miss Debbie, who is going on to greater things. We’ll miss her both as a friend and a colleague. That said we believe that with John we’ve managed to find someone with equal talent and enthusiasm."

"I can’t wait to re-introduce John to the industry through our online news coverage and in person at the major conventions of the battery industry such as BCI in May and ELBC this September."
