Batteries using Silicon Joule bipolar technology, pioneered by US-based company Gridtential Energy, are expected to hit the market for the first time during this year, CEO John Barton has said in an exclusive interview with World Battery News.

Gridtential has licensed its technology to a number of key global battery industry players although only a few – including lead battery majors East Penn, Crown Battery Manufacturing and US Battery – have been announced publicly.

At the end of 2020, Gridtential had a total of 12 development partners but "there will probably be three more announced in the next couple of months”, Barton said.
